According to the CDC the rate of violence related injury with lost workdays for EMS and First Responders is 22 times higher than the national average for ALL other workers!
A recent survey sited by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) states that 69% of Fire and EMS have been assaulted on the job in the last 12 months! A third have been punched, slapped, or scratched. And is increasing at an alarming rate.
Many responders view dealing with violence as simply part of the job! But its NOT! No where does it say anyone has the right to assault you because of your job!
